Who am I and what am I doing here?

So you might be thinking - "what hell is this blog and why should I be reading it?". You're right. The internet is full of junk these days. I'm writing this blog as a way to share my experiences in my 10 year career on cruise ships. Over that decade I accepted 14 contracts on 9 different ships, experienced the pandemic bringing the industry to a halt, opened four new ships, created activities and ran events backed by the band I led.

I don't think I'm a master of cruise ship life or that anything I say in this blog should be taken as gospel. To say my experience trumps anybody else’s is the furthest from my intentions. One of the best parts of working onboard are the unique people and stories we make in the chaos of it all. But I do think for newcomers there is a lot of missing information (from both the company and previous crew members). I've had my fair share of being told I just needed to figure things out for myself. I don't think that's how humans should operate so this blog is my way of helping people get the details they want about cruise ship life.
